[1414] Whoever does not abandon the latent tendency of lust for existence (bhavarāgānusaya) from a given place, does he not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance (avijjānusaya) from that place?
The person (puggala) endowed with the highest path (aggamagga), with respect to the three feelings (vedanā) in the sense-sphere element (kāmadhātu): he does not abandon the latent tendency of lust for existence from there, but it is not the case that he does not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance from there. That very same person, with respect to the unincluded (apariyāpanna): he both does not abandon the latent tendency of lust for existence from there and does not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance. Excepting the one endowed with the highest path, the remaining persons, everywhere, both do not abandon the latent tendency of lust for existence and do not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance.
Or else, whoever does not abandon the latent tendency of ignorance from a given place, does he not abandon the latent tendency of lust for existence from that place?
