[1447] One who fully understands (parijānāti) the latent tendency of lust for existence (bhavarāgānusaya) from a given [basis] — does he fully understand the latent tendency of ignorance (avijjānusaya) from that [basis]?
Yes.
Or rather, one who fully understands the latent tendency of ignorance from a given [basis] — does he fully understand the latent tendency of lust for existence from that [basis]?
One endowed with the highest path (aggamaggasamaṅgī), in regard to the three feelings (vedanā) in the sense-sphere element (kāmadhātu): he fully understands the latent tendency of ignorance from that [basis], but he does not fully understand the latent tendency of lust for existence from that [basis]. That very person, in regard to the form element (rūpadhātu) and the formless element (arūpadhātu): he fully understands the latent tendency of ignorance and fully understands the latent tendency of lust for existence from that [basis].
