[1517] Where the latent tendency of sensual lust (kāmarāgānusaya), the latent tendency of repulsion (paṭighānusaya), the latent tendency of conceit (mānānusaya), the latent tendency of views (diṭṭhānusaya), the latent tendency of doubt (vicikicchānusaya), and the latent tendency of lust for existence (bhavarāgānusaya) are abandoned, is the latent tendency of ignorance (avijjānusaya) abandoned there?
There is none.
Or rather, where the latent tendency of ignorance is abandoned, are the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of lust for existence abandoned there?
In the form element (rūpadhātu) and in the formless element (arūpadhātu): here the latent tendency of ignorance, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, the latent tendency of doubt, and the latent tendency of lust for existence are abandoned; the latent tendency of sensual lust and the latent tendency of repulsion should not be said to be either abandoned or not abandoned. In the two feelings (vedanā) in the sense-sphere element (kāmadhātu): here the latent tendency of ignorance, the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of conceit, the latent tendency of views, and the latent tendency of doubt are abandoned; the latent tendency of repulsion and the latent tendency of lust for existence should not be said to be either abandoned or not abandoned. In painful feeling (dukkhā vedanā): here the latent tendency of ignorance, the latent tendency of repulsion, the latent tendency of views, and the latent tendency of doubt are abandoned; the latent tendency of sensual lust, the latent tendency of conceit, and the latent tendency of lust for existence should not be said to be either abandoned or not abandoned.
