[297] For whomever the eye sense base (cakkhāyatana) arises, does the nose sense base (ghānāyatana) arise for him?
For those taking rebirth possessing the eye but lacking the nose, the eye sense base arises for them, but the nose sense base does not arise for them. For those taking rebirth possessing the eye and possessing the nose, for them both the eye sense base arises and the nose sense base arises.
Or, for whomever the nose sense base arises, does the eye sense base arise for him?
