[456] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) arises, will the nose base (ghānāyatana) arise for that one there?
For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for those who are being reborn into the form sphere (rūpāvacara): for them, there, the eye base arises, but the nose base will not arise for them there. For the others, possessed of eye, who are being reborn into the sense sphere: for them, there, both the eye base arises and the nose base will arise.
Or else, for whomever, wherever, the nose base will arise, does the eye base arise for that one there?
For those passing away from the sense sphere, and for those without eye who are being reborn into the sense sphere: for them, there, the nose base will arise, but the eye base does not arise for them there. For those possessed of eye who are being reborn into the sense sphere: for them, there, both the nose base will arise and the eye base arises.
