[757] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) arises, will the nose base (ghānāyatana) cease for that one there?
For those being reborn into the form sphere (rūpāvacara), the eye base arises for them there, but it is not the case that the nose base will cease for them there. For those with eyes being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), for them there both the eye base arises and the nose base will cease.
Or else, for whomever, wherever, the nose base will cease, does the eye base arise for that one there?
For those passing away from the sense sphere and for those without eyes being reborn into the sense sphere, the nose base will cease for them there, but it is not the case that the eye base arises for them there. For those with eyes being reborn into the sense sphere, for them there both the nose base will cease and the eye base arises.
