Uppādavāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 444

[444] For whom the eye base (cakkhāyatana) arises, will the nose base (ghānāyatana) arise for that one? For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn into the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), and for those who, having been reborn into the fine-material sphere (rūpāvacara) or the immaterial sphere (arūpāvacara), will attain final Nibbāna — for these, while they are being reborn, the eye base arises, but the nose base will not arise for them. For the others possessed of eye who are being reborn, the eye base arises and the nose base will arise. Or: for whom the nose base will arise, does the eye base arise for that one? For all who are passing away, and for those without eye who are being reborn, the nose base will arise, but the eye base does not arise for them. For those possessed of eye who are being reborn, the nose base will arise and the eye base arises.
