[468] For whomever the eye base (cakkhāyatana) does not arise, will the form base (rūpāyatana) not arise for that one?
For all beings who are passing away, and for eyeless beings who are being reborn: for them the eye base does not arise, but it is not the case that the form base will not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), for those in their final existence in the immaterial plane (arūpa), and for those who, having been reborn in the immaterial plane, will attain final Nibbāna: for these, as they are passing away, the eye base does not arise and the form base will not arise.
Or else, for whomever the form base will not arise, does the eye base not arise for that one?
For those in their final existence who are being reborn into the five-constituent existence, and for those who, having been reborn in the immaterial plane, will attain final Nibbāna: for these, as they are being reborn, the form base will not arise, but it is not the case that the eye base does not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, for those in their final existence in the immaterial plane, and for those who, having been reborn in the immaterial plane, will attain final Nibbāna: for these, as they are passing away, the form base will not arise and the eye base does not arise.
