Uppādanirodhavāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 768

[768] For whomever the eye base (cakkhāyatana) does not arise, will the nose base (ghānāyatana) not cease for that one? For all who are passing away and for the eyeless who are being reborn, the eye base does not arise; but it is not the case that the nose base will not cease for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the formless [plane], and for those who, having been reborn into the form sphere (rūpāvacara) or the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), will attain final Nibbāna — for these as they are passing away, the eye base does not arise and the nose base will not cease. Or, for whomever the nose base will not cease, does the eye base not arise for that one? For those in their final existence who are being reborn into the form sphere, the nose base will not cease; but it is not the case that the eye base does not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in five-constituent existence, for those in their final existence in the formless [plane], and for those who, having been reborn into the form sphere or the formless sphere, will attain final Nibbāna — for these as they are passing away, the nose base will not cease and the eye base does not arise.
