Uppādanirodhavāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 727

[727] For whomever the eye base (cakkhāyatana) will not arise, will the nose base (ghānāyatana) not cease for that one? For beings in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn (upapajjanta) in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for those who, having been reborn in the formless (arūpa), will attain final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) — while these are being reborn — the eye base will not arise for them, but it is not the case that the nose base will not cease for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, for beings in their final existence in the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and in the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), and for those who, having been reborn in the formless, will attain final Nibbāna — while these are passing away (cavanta) — for them the eye base will not arise and the nose base will not cease. Or rather, for whomever the nose base will not cease, will the eye base not arise for that one? For those who, having been reborn in the form sphere, will attain final Nibbāna — while these are passing away — the nose base will not cease for them, but it is not the case that the eye base will not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, for beings in their final existence in the form sphere and in the formless sphere, and for those who, having been reborn in the formless, will attain final Nibbāna — while these are passing away — for them the nose base will not cease and the eye base will not arise.
