Uppādavāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 637

[637] For whom the nose base (ghānāyatana) does not cease, will the form base (rūpāyatana) not cease for that one? For all beings who are being reborn, and for those without a nose who are passing away, the nose base does not cease, yet it is not the case that the form base will not cease for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the form sphere (rūpāvacara), and for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the formless sphere (arūpa), the nose base does not cease and the form base will not cease. Or rather, for whom the form base will not cease, does the nose base not cease for that one? For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for those who, having been reborn in the formless sphere, will attain final Nibbāna — for these, while they are passing away — the form base will not cease, yet it is not the case that the nose base does not cease for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the form sphere, and for those in their final existence in the formless sphere, the form base will not cease and the nose base does not cease.
