[636] For whom the eye base (cakkhāyatana) does not cease, will the mind base (manāyatana) … will the dhamma base (dhammāyatana) of that one not cease?
For all who are arising and for those without eye who are passing away, their eye base does not cease, but it is not the case that their dhamma base will not cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the formless [plane], their eye base does not cease and their dhamma base will not cease.
Or rather, for whom the dhamma base will not cease, does the eye base of that one not cease?
For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent [plane] (pañcavokāra), their dhamma base will not cease, but it is not the case that their eye base does not cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the formless [plane], their dhamma base will not cease and their eye base does not cease.
