[617] For whomever the eye sense base (cakkhāyatana) ceases, will the mind sense base (manāyatana) … the dhamma sense base (dhammāyatana) cease for him?
For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), their eye sense base ceases, but their dhamma sense base will not cease. For the others, who possess the eye and are passing away, their eye sense base ceases and their dhamma sense base will cease.
Or, for whomever the dhamma sense base will cease, does the eye sense base cease for him? …
