[627] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) ceases, will the dhamma base (dhammāyatana) of that one cease there?
For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), their eye base ceases there, but their dhamma base there will not cease. For the others, who possess the eye and are passing away, their eye base ceases there and their dhamma base will cease.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the dhamma base will cease, does the eye base of that one cease there?
For all who are being reborn, and for those without the eye who are passing away, their dhamma base there will cease, but their eye base there does not cease. For those who possess the eye and are passing away, their dhamma base there will cease and their eye base ceases.
