[592] For whomever, wherever, the eye sense base (cakkhāyatana) ceases, has the dhamma sense base (dhammāyatana) ceased for that one there?
For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the Pure Abodes (suddhāvāsa), the eye sense base ceases for them there, but the dhamma sense base has not ceased for them there. For the others, possessed of eyes, who are passing away, both the eye sense base ceases for them there and the dhamma sense base has ceased.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the dhamma sense base has ceased, does the eye sense base cease for that one there?
For all who are being reborn, and for those without eyes who are passing away, the dhamma sense base has ceased for them there, but the eye sense base does not cease for them there. For those possessed of eyes who are passing away, both the dhamma sense base has ceased for them there and the eye sense base ceases.
