[646] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) does not cease, will the dhamma base (dhammāyatana) not cease for that one there?
For all beings who are being reborn and for those without eye who are passing away, the eye base does not cease for them there, but it is not the case that the dhamma base will not cease for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the immaterial plane (arūpa), the eye base does not cease for them there and the dhamma base will not cease.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the dhamma base will not cease, does the eye base not cease for that one there?
For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent plane (pañcavokāra), the dhamma base will not cease for them there, but it is not the case that the eye base does not cease for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the immaterial plane, the dhamma base will not cease for them there and the eye base does not cease.
