Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 708

[708] For whomever the eye base (cakkhāyatana) will arise, will the nose base (ghānāyatana) cease for him? For those who, having been reborn in the form sphere (rūpāvacara), will attain final Nibbāna: for them, as they are passing away, the eye base will arise, but the nose base will not cease for them. For the others: for them both the eye base will arise and the nose base will cease. Or rather, for whomever the nose base will cease, will the eye base arise for him? For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for those who, having been reborn in the formless (arūpa), will attain final Nibbāna: for them the nose base will cease, but the eye base will not arise for them. For the others: for them both the nose base will cease and the eye base will arise.
