[748] For whomever the eye base (cakkhāyatana) arises, will the nose base (ghānāyatana) cease for that one?
For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn into the form sphere (rūpāvacara), the eye base arises for them, but it is not the case that the nose base will cease for them. For the others who are being reborn possessing the eye, the eye base arises for them and the nose base will cease.
Or rather, for whomever the nose base will cease, does the eye base arise for that one?
For all who are passing away, and for those being reborn without the eye, the nose base will cease for them, but it is not the case that the eye base arises for them. For those being reborn possessing the eye, the nose base will cease for them and the eye base arises.
