[654] For whomever the eye base (cakkhāyatana) has ceased, will the nose base (ghānāyatana) cease for that one?
For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the form sphere (rūpāvacara) or the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), and for those who, having been reborn in the form sphere or the formless sphere, will attain final Nibbāna — for these, as they are passing away, the eye base has ceased, but the nose base will not cease for them. For the others, both the eye base has ceased and the nose base will cease.
Or, for whomever the nose base … ?
