[553] For whom the nose base (ghānāyatana) will cease, for him the mind base (manāyatana) … the dhamma base (dhammāyatana) will cease?
Yes.
Or rather, for whom the dhamma base will cease, for him the nose base will cease?
For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn in the form sphere (rūpāvacara) or the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), and for those who, having been reborn in the form sphere or the formless sphere, will attain final Nibbāna, as they are passing away — for these the dhamma base will cease, but the nose base will not cease for them. For the others, both the dhamma base will cease and the nose base will cease.
