[554] For whomever the form base (rūpāyatana) will cease, will the mind base (manāyatana) … the dhamma base (dhammāyatana) cease for that one?
Yes.
Or, for whomever the dhamma base will cease, will the form base cease for that one?
For beings in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn into the formless [realm] (arūpa), and for those who, having been reborn into the formless [realm], will attain final Nibbāna — as they are passing away — the dhamma base of these will cease, but their form base will not cease. For the others, the dhamma base will cease and the form base will also cease.
