Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 767

[767] For whomever the eye base (cakkhāyatana) does not arise, for him the ear base (sotāyatana) will not cease? For all who are passing away, and for those without eye who are being reborn, the eye base does not arise, but it is not the case that for them the ear base will not cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), for those in their last existence (pacchimabhavika) in the formless realm (arūpa), and for those who, having been reborn in the formless realm, will attain final Nibbāna — when these are passing away — for them the eye base does not arise and the ear base will not cease. Or rather, for whomever the ear base will not cease, for him the eye base does not arise? Yes.
