[779] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) does not arise, will the mind base (manāyatana) not cease for that one there?
For those passing away from the five-aggregate existence (pañcavokāra), for those without eye who are being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for the formless (arūpa) beings: for them there the eye base does not arise, but it is not the case that for them there the mind base will not cease. For those who are attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbanta) and for the non-percipient beings (asaññasatta): for them there the eye base does not arise, and the mind base will not cease.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the mind base will not cease, does the eye base not arise for that one there?
