[778] For whom, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) does not arise, will the form base (rūpāyatana) not cease for that one there?
For those passing away from five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), for eyeless ones being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā): for them there the eye base does not arise, but it is not the case that for them there the form base will not cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in five-constituent existence and for formless (arūpa) beings: for them there the eye base does not arise, and the form base will not cease.
Or, for whom, wherever, the form base will not cease, does the eye base not arise for that one there?
Yes (āmantā).
