[478] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) does not arise, will the form base (rūpāyatana) not arise for that one there?
For those passing away from the five-constituent [plane] (pañcavokāra), for those without eye being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā): for them there the eye base does not arise, but it is not the case that for them there the form base will not arise. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent [plane] and for formless beings (arūpā): for them there the eye base does not arise, and the form base will not arise.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the form base will not arise, does the eye base not arise for that one there?
For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavikā) being reborn into the five-constituent [plane]: for them there the form base will not arise, but it is not the case that for them there the eye base does not arise. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent [plane] and for formless beings: for them there the form base will not arise, and the eye base does not arise.
