[434] For whomever, wherever, the eye base (cakkhāyatana) does not arise, did the form base (rūpāyatana) not arise for that one there?
For those passing away from five-aggregate existence (pañcavokāra), for those without eyes who are being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta): for them, there, the eye base does not arise, but it is not the case that the form base did not arise for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbanta) in the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa) and for formless (arūpa) beings: for them, there, the eye base does not arise, and the form base, too, did not arise.
Or, for whomever, wherever, the form base did not arise, does the eye base not arise for that one there?
For those being reborn into the Pure Abodes: for them, there, the form base did not arise, but it is not the case that the eye base does not arise for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the Pure Abodes and for formless beings: for them, there, the form base did not arise, and the eye base, too, does not arise.
