[317] For whomever and wherever the eye base (cakkhāyatana) arises, does the ear base (sotāyatana) arise for that one there?
For those with the eye but without the ear who are being reborn, the eye base arises for them there, but the ear base does not arise for them there. For those with the eye and with the ear who are being reborn, both the eye base arises for them there and the ear base arises.
Or, for whomever and wherever the ear base arises, does the eye base arise for that one there?
