[449] "For whomever the nose sense base (ghānāyatana) arises, will the mind sense base (manāyatana) arise for that one?"
For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), the nose sense base arises for them, but the mind sense base will not arise for them. For the others possessing the nose who are being reborn, the nose sense base arises for them and the mind sense base will arise.
"Or, for whomever the mind sense base will arise, does the nose sense base arise for that one?"
For all who are passing away, and for those lacking the nose who are being reborn, the mind sense base will arise for them, but the nose sense base does not arise for them. For those possessing the nose who are being reborn, the mind sense base will arise for them and the nose sense base arises.
