[448] For whomever the nose sense-base (ghānāyatana) arises, will the form sense-base (rūpāyatana) arise for him?
For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for those who, having been reborn into the formless (arūpa), will attain final Nibbāna — as these are being reborn, the nose sense-base arises for them, but the form sense-base will not arise for them. For the others, possessing the nose (saghānaka), who are being reborn, the nose sense-base arises for them and the form sense-base will arise.
Or rather, for whomever the form sense-base will arise, does the nose sense-base arise for him?
For all who are passing away, and for those lacking the nose (aghānaka) who are being reborn, the form sense-base will arise for them, but the nose sense-base does not arise for them. For those possessing the nose who are being reborn, the form sense-base will arise for them and the nose sense-base arises.
