Uppādavāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (1) · Vol. 38 · Section 471

[471] For whomever the nose base (ghānāyatana) does not arise, will the form base (rūpāyatana) not arise for that one? For all who are passing away, and for those without the nose who are being reborn — for these the nose base does not arise; but it is not the case that for them the form base will not arise. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and in the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), and for those who, having been reborn into the formless, will attain final Nibbāna — for these, while they are passing away, the nose base does not arise and the form base will not arise. Or else, for whomever the form base will not arise, does the nose base not arise for that one? For those in their final existence who are being reborn into the sense sphere, and for those who, having been reborn into the formless, will attain final Nibbāna — for these, while they are being reborn, the form base will not arise; but it is not the case that for them the nose base does not arise. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, for those in their final existence in the form sphere and in the formless sphere, and for those who, having been reborn into the formless, will attain final Nibbāna — for these, while they are passing away, the form base will not arise and the nose base does not arise.
