[481] For whomever in whatever place the nose sense base (ghānāyatana) does not arise, will the form sense base (rūpāyatana) not arise for that one in that place?
For those passing away from the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), for those without the nose (aghānaka) who are being reborn into the sense sphere, and for beings of the form sphere (rūpāvacara): for them in that place the nose sense base does not arise, but it is not the case that the form sense base will not arise for them in that place. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the form sphere, and for formless beings (arūpa): for them in that place the nose sense base does not arise and the form sense base will not arise.
Or rather, for whomever in whatever place the form sense base will not arise, does the nose sense base not arise for that one in that place?
For those in their final existence who are being reborn into the sense sphere: for them in that place the form sense base will not arise, but it is not the case that the nose sense base does not arise for them in that place. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, for those in their final existence in the form sphere, and for formless beings: for them in that place the form sense base will not arise and the nose sense base does not arise.
