[462] For whomever, wherever, the nose sense base (ghānāyatana) arises, will the dhamma sense base (dhammāyatana) arise for that one there?
For beings in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), the nose sense base arises for them there, but the dhamma sense base will not arise for them there. For the others, possessed of a nose (saghānaka), who are being reborn, for them there both the nose sense base arises and the dhamma sense base will arise.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the dhamma sense base will arise, does the nose sense base arise for that one there?
For all who are passing away and for those without a nose (aghānaka) who are being reborn, the dhamma sense base will arise for them there, but the nose sense base does not arise for them there. For those possessed of a nose who are being reborn, for them there both the dhamma sense base will arise and the nose sense base arises.
