[889] For whomever, wherever, the truth of suffering (dukkhasacca) does not arise — did the truth of the path (maggasacca) not arise for that one there?
For those who have made the breakthrough (abhisametāvī) who are passing away, at the moment of the dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of the mind (citta) in the course of existence (pavatta), and at the moment of the arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of the path and of fruition (phala) in the formless plane (arūpa) — for them there the truth of suffering does not arise, but it is not the case that the truth of the path did not arise for them there. For beings of the Pure Abodes (suddhāvāsa) at the moment of the dissolution of the rebirth mind (uppatticitta), for those who have not made the breakthrough who are passing away, at the moment of the dissolution of the mind in the course of existence, and for those passing away from the non-percipient beings (asaññasatta) — for them there the truth of suffering does not arise, and the truth of the path did not arise.
Or, for whomever, wherever, the truth of the path did not arise — does the truth of suffering not arise for that one there?
For beings of the Pure Abodes at the moment of the arising of the rebirth mind, for those who have not made the breakthrough who are being reborn, at the moment of the arising of the mind in the course of existence, and for those being reborn among the non-percipient beings — for them there the truth of the path did not arise, but it is not the case that the truth of suffering does not arise for them there. For beings of the Pure Abodes at the moment of the dissolution of the rebirth mind, for those who have not made the breakthrough who are passing away, at the moment of the dissolution of the mind in the course of existence, and for those passing away from the non-percipient beings — for them there the truth of the path did not arise, and the truth of suffering does not arise.
