[958] For whom the truth of origin (samudayasacca) ceases, will the truth of the path (maggasacca) cease for that one?
For those ordinary persons (puthujjana) who will not obtain the path, at the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of their craving (taṇhā) the truth of origin ceases for them, but the truth of the path will not cease for them. For those who will obtain the path, at the moment of dissolution of their craving the truth of origin ceases for them and the truth of the path will cease.
Or rather, for whom the truth of the path will cease, does the truth of origin cease for that one?
At the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of the mind (citta) of the highest path (aggamagga); at the moment of arising of that mind immediately after which they will obtain the highest path; and for those others who will obtain the path — at the moment of arising of their craving, while a mind dissociated from craving (taṇhāvippayuttacitta) is occurring, for those attained to cessation (nirodhasamāpanna), and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta) — the truth of the path will cease for them, but the truth of origin does not cease for them. For those who will obtain the path, at the moment of dissolution of their craving the truth of the path will cease for them and the truth of origin ceases.
