[1004] For whom the truth of origin (samudayasacca) arises, will the truth of the path (maggasacca) cease for that one?
For those ordinary persons (puthujjanā) who will not obtain the path (magga) — at the moment of the arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of craving (taṇhā) in them — the truth of origin arises for them, but the truth of the path will not cease for them. For those who will obtain the path — at the moment of the arising of craving in them — both the truth of origin arises for them and the truth of the path will cease.
Or rather, for whom the truth of the path will cease, does the truth of origin arise for that one?
At the moment of the arising of the highest path (aggamagga); at the moment of the arising of that mind (citta) immediately after which they will obtain the highest path; for those others who will obtain the path, at the moment of the dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of craving in them, while a mind dissociated from craving is occurring; for those who have attained cessation (nirodhasamāpannā); and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā): the truth of the path will cease for them, but the truth of origin does not arise for them. For those who will obtain the path — at the moment of the arising of craving in them — both the truth of the path will cease for them and the truth of origin arises.
