[1003] "For whom the truth of suffering (dukkhasacca) arises, will the truth of the path (maggasacca) cease for him?" — For Arahants at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of mind (citta), and for those worldlings (puthujjana) who will not obtain the path — while they are being reborn and, in the course of existence (pavatta), at the moment of arising of mind — the truth of suffering arises for them, but the truth of the path will not cease for them. At the moment of arising of the highest path (aggamagga); at the moment of arising of the mind immediately after which they will obtain the highest path; and for those others who will obtain the path — while they are being reborn and, in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of mind — for them both the truth of suffering arises and the truth of the path will cease.
"Or, for whom the truth of the path will cease, does the truth of suffering arise for him?" — At the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of the highest path; at the moment of dissolution of the mind immediately after which they will obtain the highest path; and for those others who will obtain the path — while they are passing away and, in the course of existence, at the moment of dissolution of mind, and, in the immaterial realm (arūpa), at the moment of arising of the path and of fruition (phala) — the truth of the path will cease for them, but the truth of suffering does not arise for them. At the moment of arising of the highest path; at the moment of arising of the mind immediately after which they will obtain the highest path; and for those others who will obtain the path — while they are being reborn and, in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of mind — for them both the truth of the path will cease and the truth of suffering arises.
