[961] For whomever, wherever, the truth of suffering (dukkhasacca) ceases, will the truth of the path (maggasacca) cease for that one there?
At the moment of the dissolution (bhaṅga-kkhaṇa) of the supreme path (aggamagga); for Arahants at the moment of the dissolution of the mind (citta); for those ordinary persons (puthujjanā) who will not obtain the path — as they pass away and, in the course of existence (pavatti), at the moment of the dissolution of the mind — and for those passing away from the states of loss (apāya) and from the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā): the truth of suffering ceases for them there, but the truth of the path will not cease for them there. In the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), at the moment of the dissolution of the path; at the moment of the dissolution of that mind immediately after which one will obtain the supreme path; and for those others who will obtain the path — as they pass away and, in the course of existence, at the moment of the dissolution of the mind: for them there both the truth of suffering ceases and the truth of the path will cease.
Or else, for whomever, wherever, the truth of the path will cease, does the truth of suffering cease there?
At the moment of the arising (uppāda-kkhaṇa) of the supreme path; at the moment of the arising of that mind immediately after which they will obtain the supreme path; for those others who will obtain the path — as they are being reborn and, in the course of existence, at the moment of the arising of the mind — and, in the formless plane (arūpa), at the moment of the dissolution of the path and of the fruition (phala): the truth of the path will cease for them there, but the truth of suffering does not cease for them there. In the five-constituent existence, at the moment of the dissolution of the path; at the moment of the dissolution of that mind immediately after which they will obtain the supreme path; and for those others who will obtain the path — as they pass away and, in the course of existence, at the moment of the dissolution of the mind: for them there both the truth of the path will cease and the truth of suffering ceases.
