[962] For whomever, wherever, the truth of origin (samudayasacca) ceases, will the truth of the path (maggasacca) cease for that one there?
For beings in the states of loss and woe (āpāyika) and for those ordinary persons (puthujjana) who will not obtain the path — at the moment of the dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of their craving (taṇhā) — for them there the truth of origin ceases, but the truth of the path will not cease for them there. For those who will obtain the path — at the moment of the dissolution of their craving — for them there the truth of origin ceases, and the truth of the path will cease.
Or, for whomever, wherever, the truth of the path will cease, does the truth of origin cease for that one there?
At the moment of the arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of the highest path (aggamagga); at the moment of the arising of that mind (citta) immediately after which they will obtain the highest path; and for those others who will obtain [the path] — at the moment of the arising of their craving, while a mind dissociated from craving (taṇhāvippayuttacitta) is occurring — for them there the truth of the path will cease, but the truth of origin does not cease for them there. For those who will obtain the path — at the moment of the dissolution of their craving — for them there the truth of the path will cease, and the truth of origin ceases.
