[1008] For whomever, wherever, the truth of origin (samudayasacca) arises, will the truth of the path (maggasacca) cease for that one there? For beings in the states of loss (āpāyika) and those ordinary persons (puthujjana) who will not attain the path, at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of craving (taṇhā), for them there the truth of origin arises, but for them there the truth of the path will not cease. For those who will attain the path, at the moment of arising of craving, for them there the truth of origin arises and the truth of the path will cease.
Or again, for whomever, wherever, the truth of the path will cease, does the truth of origin arise for that one there? At the moment of arising of the highest path (aggamagga); at the moment of arising of that mind (citta) in immediate succession to which they will attain the highest path; and, for those others who will attain the path, at the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of craving and while a mind dissociated from craving (taṇhāvippayutta) is occurring — for them there the truth of the path will cease, but for them there the truth of origin does not arise. For those who will attain the path, at the moment of arising of craving, for them there the truth of the path will cease and the truth of origin arises.
