[986] For whom the truth of suffering (dukkhasacca) does not arise, does the truth of the path (maggasacca) not cease for him?
At the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of the path, the truth of suffering does not arise for those [beings], but it is not the case that the truth of the path does not cease for them. For all who are passing away; during the course of existence (pavatti), at the moment of dissolution of a mind (citta) dissociated from the path; and in the immaterial plane (arūpa), at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of the path and of fruition (phala) — for those [beings], the truth of suffering does not arise and the truth of the path does not cease.
Or, for whom the truth of the path does not cease, does the truth of suffering not arise for him?
For all who are being reborn, and, during the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind, the truth of the path does not cease for those [beings], but it is not the case that the truth of suffering does not arise for them. For all who are passing away; during the course of existence, at the moment of dissolution of a mind dissociated from the path; and in the immaterial plane, at the moment of arising of the path and of fruition — for those [beings], the truth of the path does not cease and the truth of suffering does not arise.
