[987] For whom the truth of origin (samudaya-sacca) does not arise, does the truth of the path (magga-sacca) not cease for him?
At the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of the path, the truth of origin does not arise for them, but it is not the case that the truth of the path does not cease for them. At the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of a mind (citta) dissociated from craving (taṇhā), at the moment of dissolution of a mind dissociated from the path, for those who have attained cessation (nirodhasamāpanna), and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta) — for them the truth of origin does not arise and the truth of the path does not cease.
Or rather, for whom the truth of the path does not cease, does the truth of origin not arise for him?
At the moment of arising of craving, the truth of the path does not cease for them, but it is not the case that the truth of origin does not arise for them. At the moment of arising of a mind dissociated from craving, at the moment of dissolution of a mind dissociated from the path, for those who have attained cessation, and for non-percipient beings — for them the truth of the path does not cease and the truth of origin does not arise.
