Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1037

[1037] For whomever in whatever plane the eye-faculty (cakkhundriya) arises, did the ear-faculty (sotindriya) arise for that one in that plane? For those being reborn in the Pure Abodes (suddhāvāsa), the eye-faculty arises for them in that plane, but the ear-faculty did not arise for them in that plane. For the others, possessed of eyes, who are being reborn, both the eye-faculty arises for them in that plane and the ear-faculty arose. Or, for whomever in whatever plane the ear-faculty arose, does the eye-faculty arise for that one in that plane? For those passing away from the five-aggregate [plane] (pañcavokāra) and for those without eyes who are being reborn in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), the ear-faculty arose for them in that plane, but the eye-faculty does not arise for them in that plane. For those possessed of eyes who are being reborn, both the ear-faculty arose for them in that plane and the eye-faculty arises.
