[1038] To whomever, wherever, the eye-faculty (cakkhundriya) arises, did the nose-faculty (ghānindriya) arise to that one there?
For those being reborn into the form sphere (rūpāvacara): to them there the eye-faculty arises, but to them there the nose-faculty did not arise. For those with eyes being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara): to them there both the eye-faculty arises and the nose-faculty arose.
Or else, to whomever, wherever, the nose-faculty arose, does the eye-faculty arise to that one there?
For those passing away from the sense sphere and for those without eyes being reborn into the sense sphere: to them there the nose-faculty arose, but to them there the eye-faculty does not arise. For those with eyes being reborn into the sense sphere: to them there both the nose-faculty arose and the eye-faculty arises.
