Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1042

[1042] For whomever, wherever, the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) arises, has the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) previously arisen for that one there? For those being reborn into the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa), the eye faculty arises for them there, but the equanimity faculty has not previously arisen for them there. For the others possessing eyes who are being reborn, both the eye faculty arises for them there and the equanimity faculty has previously arisen. Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty has previously arisen, does the eye faculty arise for that one there? For those passing away from the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), for those without eyes being reborn into the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for formless beings (arūpa), the equanimity faculty has previously arisen for them there, but the eye faculty does not arise for them there. For those possessing eyes who are being reborn, both the equanimity faculty has previously arisen for them there and the eye faculty arises.
