Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1078

[1078] For whomever the eye-faculty (cakkhundriya) arises, will the nose-faculty (ghānindriya) arise for that one? For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn into the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), and for those who, having been reborn into the form sphere (rūpāvacara) or the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), will attain final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) — for them, while they are being reborn, the eye-faculty arises, but the nose-faculty will not arise for them. For the others possessing eyes who are being reborn — for them the eye-faculty arises and the nose-faculty will arise. Or, for whomever the nose-faculty will arise, does the eye-faculty arise for that one? For all who are passing away, and for those without eyes who are being reborn — for them the nose-faculty will arise, but the eye-faculty does not arise for them. For those possessing eyes who are being reborn — for them the nose-faculty will arise and the eye-faculty arises. [Editorial footnote 1, Siam Raṭṭha printing: "From this point onward, an elision (peyyāla) has been made in the extant printed books."]
