[1081] For whomever the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) arises, will the life faculty (jīvitindriya) arise for that one?
For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn into the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), the eye faculty arises for them, but the life faculty will not arise for them. For the others, possessed of eyes, who are being reborn, the eye faculty arises for them and the life faculty will arise.
Or, for whomever the life faculty will arise, does the eye faculty arise for that one?
For all who are passing away, and for those without eyes who are being reborn, the life faculty will arise for them, but the eye faculty does not arise for them. For those possessed of eyes who are being reborn, the life faculty will arise for them and the eye faculty arises.
