[1153] "For whomever the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) does not arise, will the life faculty (jīvitindriya) not arise for that one?"
For all who are passing away, and for those without the eye who are being reborn — for these the eye faculty does not arise, yet it is not the case that the life faculty will not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), and for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the immaterial (arūpa) — for these the eye faculty does not arise, and the life faculty will not arise.
"Or rather, for whomever the life faculty will not arise, does the eye faculty not arise for that one?"
For those in their final existence who are being reborn into the five-constituent existence — for these the life faculty will not arise, yet it is not the case that the eye faculty does not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, and for those in their final existence in the immaterial — for these the life faculty will not arise, and the eye faculty does not arise.
