Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1083

[1083] For whomever the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) arises, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arise for that one? For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) who are being reborn into five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), and for those possessed of eyes who, having been reborn with joy (somanassa), will attain final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) — for them, as they are being reborn, the eye faculty arises, but the equanimity faculty will not arise for them. For the others possessed of eyes who are being reborn, the eye faculty arises for them and the equanimity faculty will arise. Or rather, for whomever the equanimity faculty will arise, does the eye faculty arise for that one? For all who are passing away, and for those without eyes who are being reborn, the equanimity faculty will arise for them, but the eye faculty does not arise for them. For those possessed of eyes who are being reborn, the equanimity faculty will arise for them and the eye faculty arises.
