Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1169

[1169] For whomever the masculinity faculty (purisindriya) does not arise, will the life faculty (jīvitindriya) not arise for that one? For all beings who are passing away and for non-males who are being reborn, the masculinity faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that the life faculty will not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), the masculinity faculty does not arise, and the life faculty will not arise. Or rather, for whomever the life faculty will not arise, does the masculinity faculty not arise for that one? For males in their final existence who are being reborn, the life faculty will not arise, but it is not the case that the masculinity faculty does not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, and for those in their final existence in the form sphere and the formless sphere, the life faculty will not arise, and the masculinity faculty does not arise.
