[1159] For whomever the nose faculty (ghānindriya) does not arise, will the masculinity faculty (purisindriya) not arise for him?
For all who are passing away, and for those without a nose (aghānaka) who are being reborn — for these the nose faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that the masculinity faculty will not arise for them. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara); for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and the formless sphere (arūpāvacara); for those who, having been reborn in the form sphere or the formless sphere, will attain final Nibbāna; and for those women who will pass through some number of existences in that very same state (bhāva) and then attain final Nibbāna — for these, as they are passing away, the nose faculty does not arise and the masculinity faculty will not arise.
Or, for whomever the masculinity faculty will not arise, does the nose faculty not arise for him?
